Shouka's Sustainable Commitment to Coffee and Chocolate Production

Coffee and chocolate are two of the most popular products in the world, renowned for their unique flavors and comforting properties. At Shouka, we are deeply committed to promoting sustainable and ethical practices. We work exclusively with small cooperatives and producers who share our vision of production that respects the environment and local communities.

Coffee Production

Ethical Sourcing and Hand-Harvesting

At Shouka, we select our coffee beans from small cooperatives where the harvest is carried out by hand. This method not only guarantees better product quality, but also preserves local ecosystems. The coffee trees we use grow in the shade of native trees, contributing to biodiversity and soil protection.

Sustainable Farming Practices

We encourage the use of sustainable farming practices such as agroforestry. By combining agricultural crops with trees, we reduce deforestation and promote a more balanced environment. Coffee plantations are integrated into forest systems, which helps maintain natural habitats and sequester more CO₂, thus helping to combat climate change.

Chocolate Production

Collaboration with Local Producers

For the production of our 100% cacao dark chocolate, we work in close collaboration with the Kokoa Kamili cooperative in Tanzania. This cooperative brings together around 2000 smallholders who follow sustainable farming practices. These producers benefit from the best cacao beans from the rich and diverse ecosystem of the Kilombero Valley.

Organic Farming and Shade-Grown Cacao Trees

Our cacao beans are certified organic and come from cacao trees grown in the shade of other trees. This method helps preserve biodiversity, improve soil quality, and protect plantations from diseases. It also promotes a more stable environment for local wildlife.

Artisanal and Respectful Production

"Bean-to-Bar" Process

All our chocolate bars are made in our workshops in Chamonix according to the “bean-to-bar” principle. This artisanal process allows us to control every stage of production, from the bean to the bar. We roast, crack, grind, conch, and temper each bar with care to guarantee chocolate with an exceptional taste.

Ecological and Human Commitment

We are committed to a strong ecological and human approach, collaborating with responsible cacao and coffee growers. We ensure that our products are both delicious and environmentally friendly. By choosing certified organic or 100% traceable chocolate bars and coffee beans, our consumers support ethical and sustainable production methods.

Conclusion

At Shouka, we are proud of our commitment to sustainable and ethical practices in coffee and chocolate production. By working with local cooperatives and adopting environmentally friendly farming methods, we contribute to the preservation of ecosystems and the well-being of local communities. Our products, made from sustainable practices, offer our customers an exceptional taste experience while respecting the planet.
