Our 6 cocoa origins

It is finally time to reveal the cacao origins at the heart of all our bars and treats.

Like a fine wine, depending on the terroir and farming methods, cacao develops different flavors and characteristics.

To offer a rich and varied selection of chocolate, we decided to work with 6 cacao bean origins from 3 different continents.

  • Brazil

It is in the heart of the "Costa do Cacao," the Cacao Coast, in the southern part of the state of Bahia in the Mata Atlantica rainforest that the Fazenda Camboa estate, where our Brazilian beans are grown, is located.

The Carvalho brothers, the estate's owners, are pioneers of organic cacao farming in Brazil. This delicious cacao offers a well-balanced chocolate flavor on the palate, accompanied by floral notes of mango, rose, and violet.

  • Ecuador

The family estate Finca Garyth, whose goal is to reintroduce the Ecuadorian culture and tradition of fine cacao, was founded 3 hours from Quito, the capital of Ecuador. The tropical climate offers excellent conditions for growing Nacional cacao, Ecuador's rare heritage. The complexity of the tropical floral and fruit notes gives this cacao a pleasant acidity.

  • Venezuela

On the Paria Peninsula in the state of Sucre in Venezuela, the climate remains the same all year round, to the benefit of Rio Caribe Superior cacao. It is this unique environment that gives Rio Caribe cacao its intense chocolate aroma with dried fruit notes.

  • Cameroon

Cameroon, usually known for industrial cacao production, offers us exceptional cacao grown with respect for the environment and promoting biodiversity. The farmers of the SCOOPS cooperative follow a strict charter to maintain the quality of their cacao, which is certified under the "Chocolatiers engagés" label. A slight bitterness of chocolate, nuts, and dried fruit gives this excellent cacao a spicy side.

  • Tanzania

Famous for its agricultural production, the Kilombero Valley in Tanzania offers unique cacao produced in a rich and varied ecosystem. In the fight against deforestation and water pollution, the 700 farmers supplying Kokoa Kamili cacao have introduced a sustainable and eco-friendly production system. The easy-to-process beans contain a pleasant red fruit acidity complemented by a chocolate-hazelnut finish.

  • Philippines

Selected among the best in the world at the International Cocoa Awards, the beans from the Davao region in the Philippines offer an incomparable fruity and floral aroma profile. Harana cacao is a rare and unique variety thanks to its careful selection of beans from 8 different farms growing 100% Brazilian Criollo cacao trees, a Trinitario hybrid. Floral aroma guaranteed in the bar.

At Shoukâ

Each production step (roasting, cracking, grinding, conching, and tempering) is carried out with care, taking into account the aromatic profile of each cacao to bring out its best flavors.

Did you know?

Global cacao consumption continues to increase every year. It is estimated that around 3 million tons are consumed. However, fair-trade cacao represents only a small part of this consumption because its production remains almost non-existent (around 1.5%).
